About SIMA CD & RA


The Southern India Mills Association - COTTON DEVELOPMENT AND RESEARCH ASSOCIATION (SIMA CD&RA), a registered non-profit making service oriented organization was formed in the year 1974 by the textile mills in the Southern States of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Pondicherry and Kerala and recognized as “SIRO” by the Ministry of Science and Technology, New Delhi.

Objectives

 
  • To promote the development of cotton farming for enhancing cotton productivity, production and fibre quality so that the raw cotton may be made available at reasonable price to the textile mills
  • To supplement the efforts of the state and Central Governments and other agencies in promoting the increased production of quality cotton to meet the demands of the textile industry.
  • Provides a facilitative environment to successful technology transfer process and promotes cotton farming through best practices and supply of quality cotton seeds for planting in Tamil Nadu and neighbouring states in the country.
